Tire Inflation Communication System

WABCO is focused on continuously developing integrated safety technology and efficient system solutions, delivered by the broadest and most experienced support network.

Overview

WABCO has released an added feature for Tire Inflation Systems that allows fleets to remotely receive timely information whenever a tire event occurs. Under inflation is one of the leading factors in truck breakdowns. WABCO’s Tire Inflation Communication System provides a method to fill the gap of a potential lack of communication between a driver and the fleet. Our communication feature works with our Tire Inflation Communication.

Historical payback estimates for the implementation of tire pressure systems have ranged from less than 1 year up to about 3 years, with annual savings projected at $750 to over $1000 per vehicle per year.

Basic tire inflation technologies notify the driver of the tires current activity by activating a trailer mounted indicator lamp, however the fleet remains uninformed.

With WABCO’s Tire Inflation Communication System, the fleet is automatically alerted via the tractor mounted telematics system. The early warning to the fleet helps reduce the potential risk, cost and downtime associated with tire and wheel end issues.

In situations where the tire is losing air, the fleet does not have to depend on driver awareness and notification to alert them to take appropriate action on the issue. The Tire Inflation Communication System assists in minimizing potential damage from a leaking tire by reducing the communication time between a driver and fleet maintenance.

WABCO’s Tire Inflation Communication System works with WABCO RSS (Roll Stability Support) and WABCO InfoLink capable ABS, both of which facilitate vital two-way communication between tractors and trailers for monitoring and controlling key functions. The system transmits information to the driver by using a WABCO cab mounted PLC Display. Information to the fleet is transmitted via approved telematics capable devices.
