WABCO's New Generation

WABCO's newest generation of Air Disc Brakes combines high performance braking with a lightweight structure. Building on WABCO's single-piston PAN range, the Air Disc Brake New Generation weighs only 32 kg (71 lbs), approximately 4 kg (9 lbs) less than comparable brakes for truck, trailer and bus applications. They are currently the lightest brakes available for 22.5-inch rim applications.

The key differentiating feature of WABCO's latest generation of Air Disc Brakes is the new brake caliper with pad offset. The braking action on the caliper is compensated so that the brake pad on the rim side is retained and supported by the caliper. Thus the rim side brake carrier can be eliminated, resulting in a distinct weight reduction as well as improved pressure distribution of the rim-side pad. In addition, disc cracking resistance is optimized. WABCO's new generation Air Disc Brake retains the proven reliability of the patented, compact, single-piston technology incorporated in WABCO's PAN range. PAN brake features such as increased pad thickness, optimized pad utilization, link service-friendlyness, have also been incorporated in the new generation of Air Disc Brakes.
